Kathy was born and raised in Virginia and graduated from Mary Washington College with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She currently works as a Contracts Specialist for Marine Corps Systems Command in Quantico, Virginia.  After supporting the Marine Corps for the last six years and meeting the Take Point Now team of veterans, Kathy was inspired to step up and do something.  And what better cause than inspiring our veterans and wounded warriors to take back their lives after the many sacrifices they have made for our county.

One ironic thing about her joining a jet ski team is that she’s not a swimmer.  At the age of 10, she went to the local pool to take swim lessons but chickened out. It wasn’t until the age of 44 while planning a family vacation to Turks and Caicos that she decided to take swim lessons to enjoy the water more. She has found that she can only swim if she knows she can touch the bottom of the pool.  Crazy, huh! Her life vest stops her from being afraid while on the skis. As she says, “you only live once!”

Kathy is a driver of our beast of a tow vehicle, Smoke Wagon. The only issue she’s had is when a deer and then dog went bounding in front of the truck. Both escaped unharmed but the close calls have spurred our fearless leader to install a “zombie bumper” on the front of the truck to protect the driver, passengers, and jet ski trailer.

With regard to critters she does have a dog, Molly.  Molly is a 13 year old beagle and is Kathy’s baby that she affectionately refers to her as a $250 lemon due to her cost and plethora of unusal medical issues. She even has to wear a cone shame at all times due to allergy/anxiety issues.

She has three amazing grandchildren; Hunter- 16, Peyton- 14, and Kinleigh -9.  When Hunter was born, he had a MeMaw, a Nana, a Grandma, etc. so Kathy jokingly came up with the name “MopMop” to rhyme with “PopPop”.

Her step-daughter decided to teach the name to Hunter and from that point on MopMop was born. She has the name on her license plate as MOPMOP1 since someone in Virginia already has MOPMOP. Could there be another MopMop out there?  We think not! Kathy is the one and only MopMop!!
