We gave the radios a try. They worked fairly well at about 5 miles. However, their huge FAIL moment? They DON’T FLOAT as advertised. We’ve lost two of them. One in the Severn River and one in the Atlantic Ocean. They went to the same place as Greg’s lost cowboy hat. . .
Here is PK a few moments after he lost the second of the radios. No big loss. He now has more room for all the other equipment in the front compartment. We're working on a system that is water proof and fits directly in the helmets. It will be safer for the riders to not take their hands off the ski in order to call. Also, the hand radios can be too quiet for the riders when they are out on the water. The helmets would be more insulated and, hopefully, easier for the riders to hear and operate.
